Drill #2: No Stride, Side-Soft Toss Drill

The purpose of the "No Stride, Side-Soft Toss Drill" is to help young hitters refine their hitting mechanics, timing, and hand-eye coordination by eliminating the stride from their swing and incorporating soft toss from the side. Without the distraction of a stride,
hitters can focus on executing proper swing mechanics, including hip rotation, bat path, and follow-through. This drill reinforces the importance of sound fundamentals for consistent hitting success.

This drill helps hitters, by eliminating the stride from the swing, rely more heavily on their timing to initiate the swing at the right moment. Soft toss from the side requires hitters to adjust their timing based on the trajectory and speed of the tossed balls. Also, it forces hitters to sharpen their hand-eye coordination as they learn to efficiently track and connect the barrel of the bat with the moving ball. Over time, this improves their ability to judge pitch location and adjust their swing accordingly quickly and accurately.
