About Youth Hitting Academy

Meet Coach Dave

For more than 30 years, Coach Dave has helped young baseball and softball players build confidence, make more solid contact, and develop swings they can trust.

As a former Division I baseball player and coach at the junior
high, high school, and college levels, Coach Dave has learned
what helps young hitters improve—and what often holds them
back.

He believes young hitters improve fastest when they’re taught
the right fundamentals in the right order.

That’s why he created Youth Hitting Academy, a simple, step-
by-step system designed to help players ages 10–13 practice
with purpose, build lasting confidence, and develop sound
hitting habits.

His philosophy is simple:

Less is Best.

Young hitters don't need more confusion. They need the right
skills, taught in the right order.

My Story

What changed the way I coach?

Early in my coaching career, I noticed that when young hitters were introduced to new skills before they were comfortable with
the previous one, they often became overwhelmed.

Instead of playing with confidence, they started thinking about too many things when they stepped into the batter's box.

The problem wasn't that they couldn't learn.

The problem was that they were being asked to learn too much, too quickly.

So, I changed my approach.

Rather than rushing from one skill to the next, I began helping players understand and apply each fundamental before moving forward.

Through purposeful drills, repetition, and feedback, I saw something powerful: When young hitters understand what they’re working on and have time to build confidence, they improve faster.

That belief became the foundation of Youth Hitting Academy.
Every lesson builds naturally on the one before it —helping young hitters develop better habits, gain confidence, and
improve without feeling overwhelmed.

One of the most rewarding parts of coaching is seeing a young hitter step into the batter's box with confidence, trust their training, and compete without overthinking.

My Philosophy

How do young hitters learn best?

I believe every young hitter deserves instruction that's simple, encouraging, and age appropriate.

Confidence isn't built by memorizing dozens of swing thoughts or trying to fix everything at once.
It's built by mastering the fundamentals that matter most—one skill at a time.

That's why every lesson inside Youth Hitting Academy follows a clear progression. Young hitters build a strong foundation, gain confidence through repetition, and develop skills they can trust when they step into the batter's box.

Because when young hitters think less, they'e free to compete with confidence.

Why I Created Youth Hitting Academy

What does that mean for parents today?

I created Youth Hitting Academy because parents deserve a clear path to help their young hitter improve.
Instead of wondering:
-What should we practice next?
-Which advice should we follow?
-Are we working on the right things?
Parents have a simple, step-by-step system they can follow with confidence.

Every lesson is designed to help young hitters develop better habits, practice with purpose, and build confidence without feeling overwhelmed.

My goal isn't just to help players improve their swing.

It's to help them become confident hitters who enjoy the game, trust their abilities, and continue growing long after they've completed the program.
